My health took a turn for the worse and I ended up this time last year having major life-saving surgery. Happily, I am much better and have started to get back to some kind of normality and back crafting again. Today I am sharing my latest project something I Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-14447742730568975522022-05-14T22:10:00.000+01:002022-05-14T22:11:30.904+01:00A Dollshouse for the Dollshouse and a CupolaHello again it's been a while since my last post but I have been busy adding some more details to the house, mainly the roof. The chimneys were made from wood and the chimney pots were made from Fimo. I have also added a Cupola which I made from extra windows that I had leftover. Georgian buildings often had Cupolas for extra ventilation but some were purely decorative. At this time particularly in Scotland where we live there were no Dollshouse or miniature shops near us so I had to make most, if not everything myself. No internet either. I really enjoyed doing it but as you can see the house inside is very basic and not fancy at Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-64751859491610948402021-11-18T15:05:00.002+00:002021-11-18T15:24:57.921+00:00 Furniture, curtains odds and ends and new occupants and lightsHello again, a few updates since my last post. Hi again, I've been keeping busy this last few weeks and managed to get quite a lot done. Below is a pic of a setee and chairs that were mahogany coloured and covered in a cotton fabric, not very Georgian in appearance so I set about changing them. Hello again
This week I have been playing around with Fimo polymer clay and making some food for the kitchen and the pantry. Below you can see the finished food on the tables and on the floor of the pantry.
Roast chicken for dinner....mmmm !!!
I also needed some sacks to put the potatoes and flour in so I made a couple from canvas that I had then I stamped some logos onto them with Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-51477842341136431312020-01-31T12:47:00.000+00:002020-02-02T22:57:31.982+00:00DISASTER !!! at Dalton Manor (beware this is a long post get a cuppa before you start)
Well there I was sitting in my craft room making pictures to hang in the dolls house Dining room when suddenly I heard a CRASH !
Looking round I discovered it was my chandelier in the Morning room which, in true Only Fools and Horses fashion had fallen and crashed onto the Morning room floor. On further inspection (sounding like Sherlock Holmes here ) I discovered that the wire had Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-72448830295011207152019-12-15T21:55:00.001+00:002019-12-17T20:18:25.421+00:00The basement and kitchen rooms ....
The past few months have been really busy but I've managed to get some time to work on the basement.
In Georgian homes the kitchen rooms which usually included the main kitchen the pantry and servants hall, the butlers room and the house keepers room and possibly a wine cellar too were all in the basement. This house has 3 rooms in the basement but I have room to make it 4 if I Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-51949414790202511842019-09-19T14:43:00.001+01:002019-09-19T18:42:42.925+01:00A bit more progress......
Hello again. I've been busy doing the ground floor and putting in the wall panels, dado rail and skirting, below are a few pics just to update on the present state of the house.
As you can see all the lights are now in and working, next are the doors for the main house and then I will fit all the skirting, dado rails and wall panels in the rest of the rooms. Its been a while but I finally managed to get the lights working in the house, and what a difference it makes to the overall feel of it. It's starting to come alive now.
I've been making a couple of fire surrounds too one for the blue morning/drawing room and one for the dining room. I made them from Bass wood which is very light and used for model making. Yay !!! A few pics of some of the lights that I have added crystals to. Hello again at last I'm back on the build, it's been a really busy month with holidays my Son's wedding and my Granddaughter's Communion, and card orders with absolutely no time to craft at all, so a lot of time to make up.
Today I am building the basement for Dalton Manor it should have been straight forward but because I am adding it to the main house there are a few adjustments to be made Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-84061066385059668662019-04-26T21:16:00.000+01:002019-04-26T22:47:56.906+01:00Ceiling panels and mouldings, chimney breasts
A further update on the ceiling panels that I have been working on. Above is the first floor stair landing with the panel and ceiling mouldings in place. This is the ceiling where the crystal chandelier will hang. No skirting boards fitted yet as I have to be able to get under the floor covering to install the wires for the lighting so the skirting boards will be one of the last thingsVeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-44815070930649535272019-03-28T22:42:00.002+00:002021-08-18T21:18:17.198+01:00Drawing room floor completed....Finally managed to get the Drawing room floor looking the way I want. After trying out about six stains I am now happy with the colour and the finish. Don't think I'll be able to duplicate it though for the other rooms as it has so many colours on it and I decided to wax it with oak furniture wax and it came up brilliant. Really pleased .
Now on to the Dining room ....got it started Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2849961624444260121.post-67337116639936470072019-03-17T15:52:00.001+00:002021-08-18T21:18:35.065+01:00The crystal chandelier and more entrance hall work
I was determined to have a feature chandelier in the house but when I saw how expensive they are I decided to buy a plain 6 arm one and add the crystals myself using my jewellery stash. I recon I saved myself around £90 pounds, .......yes I'm not joking ........the cost of a miniature one is as expensive as a full size one. Here is how I made it below

The entrance hall has a lot of work needed to get it looking authentic Georgian and this week I have been researching Georgian interiors and have come up with an idea for the floor in the entrance hall.

Another coat on the windows as I wasn't happy with finish and I still might put on a coat of eggshell mainly because the emulsion is soaking into the MDF and is not as white as I would like.

Moving on with the build this week I have inserted the room dividers and made the grooves along the floors for the lighting wires. Hello again, It's been a long time since my last post it seems that life sometimes gets in the way of crafting.
I have been retired now for 2 years, which has completely flown by, but it now affords me the time to devote to my crafting hobbies one of which is miniatures.
My Husband bought me a new dolls house for Christmas and I will be posting my progress building and furnishing it here Veehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08193969442875310962noreply@blogger.com0
