Another we update and a look at the miniatures I have been making for the past few weeks.
It all started when I needed a hat for Charlotte to put in her bedroom so I set about trying my hand at hats. Not an easy task as I found out, to make a Georgian bonnet, but I had a go and eventually after a few going in the bin I ended up with the pink one below.
The worst part was making the small roses. I found a YouTube video with an easy way and made them with an Organza ribbon. Satin ribbon is too thick and this method is better with Organza. Then I made the green and yellow one with embroidery Aida cloth which resembles a straw hat in miniature. The others I made yesterday and I think that I might need to make a shop to put them in if I make any more 😂 Only the pink one is going into Dalton Manor as the others are not Georgian in style.
I've also been experimenting with making little baskets. I used a couple of materials for these as they are for different purposes.
The ones here are for around the house mainly the kitchen and pantry. I used the Aida material and stitched around them with embroidery floss. They could be breadbaskets.
The ones below are made with hemp. I cut out some squares and soaked them in watered PVA glue to stiffen them and then shaped them over small molds until they were dry and then I trimmed them to size. I plaited the hemp strands and added trim and handles to each basket. I'm pleased with how they turned out and I like the colour too.
Just to give you an idea of the sizes
**************
I've been buying lots of little accessories too.
The tiny little things that give the house its character and lived-in feel
Outdoor lights one on each side of the door
Shelving and more wine bottles in the servant's hall
Below are the baskets I made one being used for laundry and the others are in the pantry ready for use
More copper pots and pans
Copper jelly moulds on the dresser and a Churn and Dolly on the floor to the right of the dresser
Charlotte has laid down her embroidery to have afternoon tea
Bonbon dishes on the side table
We have a new Lady visiting the house adjusting her hat in the mirror before setting off home
Keys in the tray on the table
The drawers in the serving table are now filled with silver cutlery
We have a new decanter on the gold tray ...we need some glasses..
Nothing much changed in the bathroom
Charlotte's boudoir has been rearranged
Some new perfumes, hat, and a hatbox
Here is her new bonnet
A chamber pot for under the bed
The gentleman's bedroom has a new chest at the end of the bed
And a jug and bowl
Nothing much changed in the study
Still needs a fire and I have added a small table
The Music room has a new fire, (not wired in yet) and a clock
Also a bust of Mozart, a Violin and Bow. a candle, and a Chinese ornament on the small table
This room needs some artwork on the walls
Now we have the garden. you can see the small flower basket that I made on the bench
A couple of lions to guard the house, and Pepper hiding her bones in the garden 😂
I seem to have a few garden tools and pots and stuff so I think I might need to build a garden shed and who knows I might even have a gardener....ooooh posh !!!
Another new female, she is a Nurse but I am changing her and she might become the new Housekeeper.... who knows ?......
Well, that's it for today I hope you enjoyed my update and seeing the house coming to life. See you next time 🙋😁

Deletethanks Elaine next time you are over you can go up and see it xx
Absolutely love your house. The detail is amazing. I have a Sid Cooke Georgian house which is approx 28 years old now, has been untouched for about 20yrs due to personal circumstances and needs a refurb. I am now back doing miniatures and yours has given me the inspiration to do it and it will be my new project for 2022.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Barb for your lovely comment and I'm really glad that you found inspiration to start on your house. It would be lovely to see it when you get started. I hope you have lots of happy days working on it.
